A feast of vivid description and a chef’s-kiss triumph in flash fiction storytelling. Using a tight narrative structure, the author wastes no words on unnecessary back story, instead taking the reader into a deep POV of our protagonist and the drama that surrounds this important meal and the events to come. In Evan's winning story, “The Walk”, we are presented with a dark and foreboding piece that appreciates the small details – an empty space awkward silence vibrations from a waiting crowd – each compounding to conjure a feeling of authenticity.
